Summer, sunshine, e-bike-tour.

Why your next tour will be even more fun with a slim e-bike.

Whether it’s a day trip or a longer cycling tour – excursions by bike are becoming increasingly popular in Germany. That’s why we took a look at the latest bike trip analysis from the ADFC (Allgemeiner Deutscher Fahrrad-Club) and summarized the most important points for you.

Where do I want to go?

An excursion by bike has many advantages compared to other means of transportation. For the bike travelers surveyed, the main motivation is flexibility, i.e. the opportunity to see and experience more of the country and its people.

With your Coboc e-bike, you can quickly turn left, ride over gravel in the middle of greenery and explore places that you can only reach by bike. Thanks to electric support, not only longer, but also topographically more demanding tours can be mastered without any problems.

How do I get to my destination?

If the route or destination is not directly on the doorstep, other means of transport have to be used to get there. Just under 33% of respondents use the train, and almost 41% travel by car.

Even the thought of transporting an e-bike, usually weighing more than 20 kilograms, sends the first warning signals to your back. This is where our lightweight models really come into their own: At a maximum of 18 kilograms, our e-bikes can be easily lifted onto a train or bicycle rack. Another advantage of the low weight is that the total permissible load of the bike carrier and the car roof is less of a problem.

How much range do I need?

One disadvantage of slim e-bikes is their limited range. Not with us! All our models (except eCycle F1) have an integrated battery with 380 watt hours. This capacity can be translated to a range of 75 to 110 kilometers*, which is more than sufficient for most tours. According to the study, cross-country cyclists (from accommodation to accommodation) cover an average of 70 kilometers, while star tours (with one fixed accommodation) cover 52 kilometers.

*Generally, the range depends on very many parameters. These include total weight, gradient, riding style, riding surface and much more.

How do I charge my e-bike on multi-day tours?

For tours lasting several days, whether with one or changing accommodations, the vast majority of respondents stay in hotels, guesthouses or private accommodations (e.g. Airbnb).

The possibility of recharging the battery is given in each of these cases. By the way, bags can be cleverly attached to Coboc’s own bag holder. This is nicely integrated into the frame. Thus, there is enough space to carry the lightweight charger. An additional option is the bike-energy charging cable, compatible for all Coboc e-bikes. This also provides a complete, well-developed e-charging infrastructure.

Doesn’t an e-bike make it too easy for me?

Only if you want to. Our self-developed drive, the Coboc Electric Drive, has two preset driving modes, which can be individually fine-tuned via app. Whether you’re in your late 30s or early 60s, you’ll always have the right level of support.

And if it’s not strenuous enough for you – then simply ride without the drive. The drive is completely decoupled and there is no noticeable resistance. The effect: Our e-bikes ride like a normal touring bike.

Summary

The study clearly shows the advantages of touring with a lightweight slim e-bike. Cutbacks in electrically assisted range are clearly refuted by the bike touring analysis: The average distances covered can be managed very well with the 380 Wh battery of our e-bikes. Above all, the low weight – for example, only 15.6 kilograms for our Merano – makes every kilometer an experience.
